In movie news, Tobey Maguire's evil twin Toper Grace has been casted to play Venom in the latest Spiderman movie. I'd just like to go on record saying that it may be a pretty cool choice. Eddie Brock was supposed to be losing everything to Peter Parker and Spiderman. I just can't see that happening with an older guy who should already have his life in order. I think it would be much more realistic if Eddie is somebody younger, trying to get his life in order, and can actually be pushed around by both Spiderman and Peter Parker.

I realize that there will be much controversy amongst the fans due to this casting choice. For fun, why don't we all pick an actor that we would like to see play Venom? I'll start: For the scariness factor, I'll choose Mickey Rourke. I think that as Venom he could scare the shit outta you.

No wait. Your comments about Eddie vs. Peter sound like Peter beating Brock. Like they have some sort of rivalry...prior to him becoming Venom, Brock is a free-lance photographer like Peter. Peter actually doesn't even know about Brock (too much) and does his job. JJ always likes Parker's work better. So Peter actually doesn't realize that Brock hates him. It was never contextualized as a rivarly...more like a one-sided hatred. Peter never knew.

THEN, after becoming Venom; through a series of encounters, Peter and Brock find out who each other is. During one of these meetings they actually "talk" for a bit and Parker realizes just how much Eddie hated him. The symbiot (sp?) entity we call "Venom" just tapped into that, because it was Eddie's strongest emotion at the time, and embodied it.

I still think having someone a little older as the comic did it would be good. Needs to have that broad-shoulder look though. Not sure about any known actors that would fit the bill.

I'm with Mike, Venom was always a big guy. Also, can you really imagine an angry Topher Grace yelling "We are Venom!" and then throwing a car or something? That's just laughable.

Also, the idea that Eddie should have his life in order is probably part of the reason the was created that way. It would make a lot of sense if a guy who was older felt that he was being pushed around by some young punk, his anger would be understandable. You'd think a guy like Topher Grace would be used to getting picked on and thusly this Peter Parker thing would not be so bad. But that's just my two sense.
